    What makes NWU special?

The biggest thing that I think makes NWU special is the attention that professors, faculty, and staff provide students. Having gone to a bigger school where it is easy to get lost in the crowd, I did not get an opportunity to connect with professors or my peers. At NWU, this is not the case. When a student submits an application, an admissions counselor will help you throughout the admissions process. In the classroom, professors make an effort to know each student, what their interests are, and make themselves available. It is common to see our president in the dining hall talking with students and having conversations. Students are the main focus at NWU, it is part of our culture, and it is our identity.

What advice would you give your incoming students?

The biggest piece of advice that I have for incoming students is that if there is anything that you are interested in doing in college, to do it. Whether that is playing sports, studying abroad, being part of different clubs, or any other interest a student may have. College provides a unique opportunity to pursue an academic interest while still being able to pursue opportunities that you maybe passionate about or have been interested in but did not have the time to dedicate to that interest.

What are your favorite secret spots around campus or Lincoln?

My favorite spot on campus is the cafe. They have a really good nitro cold brew. My favorite spot in Lincoln is Bloom Coffee. They have a berry topped waffle that is delicious.
